Bee on Flower (23" x 25", oil on
gesso board) - This is an early painting of
Mary's, done in the late 1950s when her love
for painting animals was strong but she still
                    felt the pull of realism.

"Those are the roses that grew in our garden
in Firenze.  They were wonderful roses,
and I just watched the bee in the flowers."
