                  | Boy and
Earth (acrylic on canvas) - Done during
the early stages of Mary's movement from animal
to spiritual themes, this painting is also one of
the first places where Mary began to use human
figures as symbolic objects.  There is still
a strong connection to animals and bones here,
with the many creatures in the background and the
overlaid image of a cat(?) skull; but the boy
clearly plays a central role, with his heart as
the source of the Light emanating toward heaven
                  and earth.  |
