                      Dead Dragonfly (30" x 22" oil
on masonite) -  As with other
animals, Mary painted quite a few dead
insects.  She really did have a
remarkable ability to see beauty where others
might recoil, and she used it quite
effectively.  Here, the dragonfly has a
wonderful air of peace as it lies curled in
its final resting position on a dreamy blue
                      background.
