                      Newt (34" x 24", oil on canvas)
                      - Mary had a great fondness for the creatures
she encountered walking in the woods on
                      Yelping Hill.  Newts, especially the
glowingly orange red efts found crossing the
road on rainy days, were some of her
                      favorites.

"That's one of those mysterious things that
if you look very carefully at certain times
of the evening it's just there.  The
                        things are there.  He's
dreaming.  He's in sort of a
                        mysterious sleep."
