                      Toad (10" x 7") - Mary liked
toads - both her mother Gracie and her son
Jabez had kept pet toads at one time or
another.  In this mosaic, she was able
to capture the essence of the complex
markings on a toad's back with a minimum of
stones.  Mounted in a forged iron frame,
this small mosaic served as a trivet in
countless dinners prepared by Mary for people
who came through 81 Washington Avenue.
