                      Winged Bugs (23" x 21", ink and
watercolor) - The wings of insects were a
special focus of Mary's.  She paid a
great deal of attention to the fine stucture
of the veins and support structures, and
especially liked to sketch and paint insects
with large wings.  Inspiration for this
pair of winged bugs was most likely found in
the creatures captured in Mary's insect trap
set up in the woods at night.
